About Andrew Kelly Guitars

I started Andrew Kelly Guitars in 2016 with a simple goal: help players keep their instruments playing and feeling their absolute best. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with musicians of all kinds. From weekend strummers, to dedicated hobbyists, to working professionals, my job doesn’t change: make sure every client’s guitar or bass stays stage-ready and equipped to perform.

What I care about most is keeping things straightforward: fair pricing, clear communication, and quick turnaround. Every instrument that comes across my bench gets the same attention and respect that I’d give my own.

Thanks for trusting me with your gear. I’m proud to help keep your music going!

About the owner

I’m Andrew Kelly, and it’s so great to meet you! Guitars have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Dallas, TX in a music-filled family, I spend my twenties playing everything from gospel to metal. Along the way, I found myself fascinated with the science and art of how guitars are made and how everything works together to create such a versatile instrument.

After graduating in 2016 from the Galloup School of Lutherie where I trained in the art of guitar building and repair, I made the move to San Antonio to bring my skills and passion to the area’s vibrant music scene.

Over the years, I’ve built a broad base of knowledge that allows me to handle everything from routine maintenance to full-scale repair and restoration. I take pride in my work, putting care, attention, and a bit of heart into every instrument that meets my hands.

Appointment FAQ

  • Do I need to bring my instrument in a case or gig bag?

    • Yes! I warranty the safety of your instrument and the quality of my work as long as your instrument includes a protective case of some kind. Please don’t bring your instrument uncased if you can help it.

  • What is your turnaround time?

    • You can expect most regular maintenance (setup, fret dressing, etc.) on your instrument to be completed in 1-2 weeks. Some repair processes can extend that time significantly. Completion dates are only estimates.

  • What forms of payment do you take and when do I pay?

    • I accept payment by cash, card, Cashapp, Venmo, or Zelle. Payment is due when you pick up your instrument after work is completed.

  • Can you give me a quote for a complex repair?

    • Some repairs are not apparent without a full inspection on my workbench. There’s only so much that can be explained over the phone, email, or even via photographs. An accurate repair estimate will require an inspection.

  • Do you work on flutes?

    • No.
